New Moped Laws Designed to Save Lives
In a press release, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that annual moped fatalities have doubled, from 48 to 96, between 2005 and 2009. And despite the rising problem, the NHTSA still exempts most electric mopeds from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. A motorcyclist was hospitalized after colliding with a vehicle on Water Street Monday.
