News sources report, at least one person is dead after a head-on collision Friday between two vehicles on Highway 299 near Burney in Shasta County. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man, whom the Shasta County coroner’s office identified as a 59-year-old Shingletown man, was in a small blue car traveling on Highway 44 near the Shingtown rest area.
