Texting And Driving Ban In Alabama Begins

Alabama has increased penalties for texting while driving, according to the news.

The new ban has been effective since August 1st 2012 across the state. Texting while driving and other activities that could keep drivers distracted such as emailing and instant messaging are now considered a primary offense.

A primary offense that is witnessed by an officer is grounds for citation, so drivers in Alabama should be aware they could be pulled over if they’re caught texting. The new law has been established to decrease the number of distracted drivers on the road.
