Experienced drivers may know that being distracted by cellphones and handheld gadgets while behind the wheel can cause serious accidents but what some teen or inexperienced motorists do not realize is that, rules apply to everybody. Using a cellphone to text is difficult and it could be deadly.
In a new Belgian public service announcement video, a driving instructor asks his students to show him they are perfectly capable of handling the vehicle, driving safely and texting while they do so. Students go ahead and follow their instructor’s lead by driving along the practice course while attempting to compose a text message. Needless to say that the results are far from surprising.
As a result of the experiment, students happen to find it is incredibly hard to drive while attempting to text and end up crashing into cones, hitting obstacles and finding themselves incapable of avoiding incidents they would be perfectly able to avoid if they had their full attention focused on the road ahead.
Hopefully, the PSA video below will show teen drivers all across the globe the importance of focusing on the road and traffic surrounding them. To allow a distraction to take your attention away from what’s important can be deadly.
