According to a number of news articles, a man from Vacaville was fatally wounded in an accident that happened last Sunday and that involved three vehicles.
The official accident reports show that a pickup truck was traveling on the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 80 when the vehicle suddenly veered off to the center median, flipped over and crashed into an oncoming Honda Civic on the westbound lanes of the interstate. According to the California Highway Patrol troopers who responded to the scene, the crash killed the 80-year-old Honda driver instantly.
The Honda passenger, a 75-year-old was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. A third vehicle was also hit, which sent the driver and the passenger to the hospital sustaining moderate to major injuries.
According to the authorities, the 19-year-old driver in the pickup truck was also rushed to the hospital after the crash. Although alcohol is not believed to have been the cause behind the accident, the factors that may have facilitated this crash were not immediately available.
At this moment, the California Highway Patrol is investigating this crash and should have more details regarding this accident available to the media.
