A 68-year-old man from Sacramento tried crossing Elkhorn Boulevard in his wheelchair yesterday, when a truck hit him. The man is now in critical condition, said a California Highway Patrol spokesperson. At about 2:07pm, the crash happened at the Elkhorn Boulevard exit off Interstate 80 when a 2008 Dodge Ram exited westbound I-80. The truck, with its large tires, was approaching a yellow light at the intersection when its driver, a 27-year-old man from Sacramento, checked on his left side for oncoming traffic, and then made a right-hand turn. He saw something from the side of his vehicle, and pulled over to find the victim on the ground bleeding from his head.
According to news reports, the man in the wheelchair was brought to Mercy San Juan Medical Center for treatment of major head trauma. The accident is still under investigation by authorities, and the driver in the incident was not detained by police. As a Newport Beach personal injury lawyer, I hope the injured man heals as quickly as possible from his wounds. If you or a loved one were harmed in an auto accident caused by reckless driving, discuss your case with a knowledgeable car accident lawyer who can evaluate your case.
