According to multiple news agencies, “Tuna Strips” produced and distributed by Moon Fishery (India) Pvt. Ltd. are being recalled over possible health risks.
The official recall announcement recently released in the Food and Drug Administration’s website has revealed that 22 pound cases of the “Tuna Strips” product have been potentially contaminated with the organism known as Salmonella, which could cause serious and even life-threatening illnesses in people with a compromised or weakened immune system. According to the information found in the official recall statement, the company Moon India decided to issue this recall nationwide in light of a report issued by the Food and Drug Administration’s inspectors stating that samples of “Tuna Strips” had been tested positive for Salmonella. Although the federal agency tested samples of products that are not yet available to consumers, the company decided to recall all lots that are already available in retail stores all across the country to avoid any future illnesses.
While the FDA is investigating the origin of this contamination, the Moon Marine USA Corporation is suspending the distribution of any tuna product produced by Moon Fishery of India.
As a Personal Injury Lawyer in Los Angeles, I sincerely hope that the distributor is being successful in carrying out this recall campaign. I’d hate to learn that the consumption of highly contaminated food items resulted in illnesses that could have been prevented. I encourage you to check your food products immediately. If you have any samples of this product in your possession, contact the distributor as soon as possible.
