A head on collision in the City of Industry killed one motorist and injured five others. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the accident took place yesterday around 7 pm on East Valley Boulevard. KTLA News reported that accident investigators believe that the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was speeding when he collided head-on with a Ford Taurus carrying a family of four.
According to witness reports, the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV lost control, crashing into a road barrier, and then barreling head-on into the other vehicle. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to pry open the vehicle and free the auto accident victims. Emergency services rushed the passengers to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
A spokesman for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said that the driver of the SUV was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of the Ford Taurus died on the scene from the impact of the collision. The deceased father’s family members are expected to recover from their injuries. Sources close to the investigation, speaking anonymously off the record expect the driver of the SUV to be placed under arrest for felony DUI. Second degree manslaughter charges may be filed for causing the horrific car crash and subsequent death.
As a personal injury attorney in Los Angeles I find this drunk driving death utterly appalling. Drinking and driving can kill. Another pointless death at the hands of an irresponsible person.
