According to news agencies, a San Diego woman sustained minor injuries in an accident that left her vehicle pinned underneath a big rig Wednesday morning on Interstate 805.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident took place in the southbound lanes of Interstate 805 near the Sweetwater Road exit and was reported to authorities just after 7:30am Wednesday. In a statement, the truck driver stated that he was traveling one of the right lanes when the woman’s vehicle “came from out of nowhere.” Her car ultimately came to rest at a 90-degree angle underneath the big rig’s trailer.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and discovered the woman still trapped inside of the vehicle. National City firefighters worked to free the woman of the wreckage and she was then transported to a local hospital for the treatment of her minor injuries.
The two right lanes of southbound Interstate 805 were blocked while the crash was being cleared and the scene investigated. The CHP is continuing their investigation of the accident and have not, as of press time, stated whether any citations were issued.
