Multiple news agencies have revealed in recent articles that a woman was cited for a seat belt violation after it was discovered that the woman had placed a gas can in the vehicle’s child restraining seat. According to the news, the child was sitting on the back seat and he lacked restraints, which could have been fatal were he involved in an accident.
The driver was pulled over in Colorado after being spotted making an improper turn while driving in Aurora last May 30th.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the pictured of the young boy sitting unrestrained in the back seat while the gas can was trapped to the car safety seat was published to encourage drivers to keep it in mind that life is delicate and precious and that it’s the driver’s responsibility to ensure their children’s safety by properly restraining them at all times.
Multiple news agencies across the nation ran with the story and this driver’s negligence to demonstrate tragic it would have been if this vehicle were to crash.
As a personal injury lawyer, I urge you and your loved ones to remember that the use of a child-restraining seat is imperative to all children younger than 8 years of age in California. Do not ignore the laws and follow federal regulations to ensure your child’s safety and the safety of others.
