According to news sources, a woman sustained major leg injuries when she crashed her vehicle into a crane Tuesday while traveling on Interstate 10 at Date Pal Drive and subsequently overturning.
The 37-year-old woman was driving a 2005 Toyota Prius at Date Palm Drive traveling eastbound when the accident took place, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The crane operator, a 52-year-old man, reportedly was moving the crane from the center median towards the eastbound fast lane when the woman’s vehicle crashed into it.
The vehicle then overturned and caused the closure of at least three eastbound lanes on the roadway for several hours.
The woman was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of major leg injuries, a CHP officer said.
The woman’s injuries were reportedly not considered life threatening.
