According to the weekend news, a 40-year-old woman from Grass Valley was pronounced dead after she tragically fell or jumped from the Empire Street overpass.
The tragic incident happened Sunday over Highway 49 where the woman’s body lay until the troopers from the California Highway Patrol arrived. According to the article, many drivers going northbound on Highway 49 swerved so they wouldn’t hit the woman.
The accident happened around 7:15 pm and authorities say that she probably died from the fall although there was at least one vehicle that unfortunately ended up hitting the woman’s body.
Statements from different drivers show that the circumstances related to this woman falling could have resulted in several different accidents but thankfully, no one else driving on Highway 49 at that time was injured.
Witnesses report the moment they saw the woman falling but nobody claimed seeing her while she was on the bridge. A physician who was present at the scene pulled the woman’s body from the road but, unfortunately she was already dead.
As a Woodland Hills personal injury lawyer I offer my deepest and sincerest condolence to the family of the woman tragically killed last Sunday. It is an incredibly sad thing to hear of such news.
Personal injury lawyers understand that an autopsy and an extensive investigation will have to be held before the authorities reach a conclusion regarding this case.
