Media sources reported that a woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident Friday in Springville, then arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The California Highway Patrol stated that the accident happened around 1:55am Friday when the 25-yer-old woman made an unsafe turning movement while driving her 2002 GMC northbound on Balch Park Road, north of Highway 190. The woman was estimated to be traveling at around 35 to 40mph when the unsafe turning movement caused her vehicle to veer off the road and onto the dirt shoulder where she lost control of the vehicle. The car traveled across the road and onto the opposing shoulder where it struck a power pole and overturned down an embankment.
The woman suffered moderate injuries during the wreck and was transported to Sierra View District Hospital for medical treatment. Shortly afterwards, she was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Balch Park Road was closed for several hours while the power pole was replaced.
No other injuries were reported in association with this incident.
