A heart ailment resulted in serious injuries when a woman crashed into a school bus. The bus driver and four students were not hurt when the crash happened. The eastbound Mt. Diablo Unified School District bus stopped at Cowell Road and Babel Lane while a westbound Volvo went through the stop, sideswiping another vehicle then crashing into the bus. The 59-year-old woman for Pittsburgh was brought to the hospital immediately. Evidence from the crash, including the relatively minor impact and the airbags did not deploy, suggested that she had experienced a medical emergency before the collision happened. Doctors confirmed that she had a “cardiac incident” before being placed on life support.
According to news reports, traffic was diverted until 10am by Concord police officers. The CHP was summoned to the scene of the accident due to underage students being involved.
